Psychodrama Overview – Advanced
March 9-12, 2018
Psychodrama is a method for exploring psychosocial situations. In its larger sense, it includes a variety of associated methods developed by psychodrama’s inventor, Dr. Jacob L. Moreno (1889-1974), including sociometry, group psychotherapy, role play/theory, improvisational theatre and sociodrama. Psychodrama employs guided dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised by an individual (psychodrama) or a group (sociodrama). Using experiential, embodied methods, psychodrama facilitates insight, personal growth, and integration on cognitive, affective, and behavioral levels. It clarifies issues, increases physical and emotional well being, enhances learning and develops new skills.
This Psychodrama Intensive will provide students with experience and theory in all aspects of the Psychodrama process, including work in directing, as well as in a variety of auxiliary ego and doubling experiences in service to the protagonist. Opportunities to become the protagonist, if desired, will also be part of the learning process. Students will learn to hone one’s skills from moment to moment, the capacity to attune to the protagonist on energetic, intuitive, body language, vocal tone and content levels. Transpersonal dimensions of healing within psychodrama will be presented.
